Central Computing Facility at Mount Zion
Mount Zion provides the latest technology in computers to its
students. The lab is up-to-date in all respects. Students are given
unfettered freedom to experiment and learn in the lab. They can use
the computer center anytime between 9 in the morning till 10 at
night. Computers are also provided in the hostels so that students
can continue their studies/research from the hostels as well.
The entire college is networked and this
enables students to access their files from the central servers from
wherever they are. Most of the college is also covered by a wireless network
which allows students to use laptops and such devices and still be hooked
into the main network.
There are dedicated servers running MySQL, Linux based proxy servers, FTP
servers, HTTP servers, Mail servers, etc. The domain controller and the backup
domain controller are Windows 2003 based. Students are provided with a variety
of Operating Systems so that they can work on each of them and learn how these
systems function.
Internet connectivity is provided 24/7 and it allows students
to be on the information superhighway at all times. The college has a gigabit
network backbone and all the links function at a minimum speed of 100 Mbps.
