Sad  "5 cents for each forward"

wneo: There is something wrong with our education system if CS majors send out "AOL will give 5c for each forward" spam.
intgr: @wneo Where does it say in their syllabus that 'thy[sic] shalt not send out such mail forwards'

I opened my mailbox in the morning to find a mail form one of our students. It went blah blah, made a couple of emotional appeals, then more blah blah and then ended with an emotional blackmail. "AOL will track this mail" should light a thousand bulbs and make one ask hundred questions.

How can a mail be tracked by an ISP? Is it possible? [Actually, this is possible. Think about how it can be done. Will ISPs do it?] Or is it not possible? Why is not possible? What are the privacy concerns?

Think!
